New Speeway Boogie by Herb Greene and Stanley Mouse
This poster is a collaborative effort between Grateful Dead Photographer, Herb Greene and Album Cover Artist, Stanley Mouse. The poster was published by Walnut Street Gallery for an art exhibit in Indianapolis during one of the Grateful Dead’s multi night concerts at Deer Creek. The poster is a collage of Herbie’s images of the Grateful Dead and Stanley created the graphics and colorized the entire image.
All Deadheads know the Grateful Dead song New Speedway Boogie. The title for the poster was a play on the song title and it was appropriate to debut the poster in Indianapolis because Indianapolis is best known for the Speedway that hosts the Indy 500 race each year. Those with a keen eye will notice that Speedway is spelled without the “D”. An accidental omission by Stanley! Both Stanley and Herbie signed the prints.
