Santana ’69 Poster

The story behind the image is as great as the image itself. Back in the early 90’s the owners of the gallery met Carlos Santana. He loved the “art of rock and roll” concept that the Eveleigh’s had created and wanted to do a project with them. The 25th anniversary of Woodstock was soon approaching and Carlos wanted to do something to honor his mentor Bill Graham.

The Eveleigh’s searched for months for an image that would honor Carlos and Bill and finally, the group decided to combine two photographs taken by Bill Graham and Baron Wolman. Baron Wolman was the chief photographer for Rolling Stone Magazine, covering all the festivals in 1969. He was sitting on stage with Bill Graham when they both decided to photograph each other. The two photos were combined (Baron was removed); the rest of the band was taken out and the psychedelic colors of the crowd and stage were added to the black and white photograph.

Carlos felt it was important to create the image in two formats – a poster and a limited edition litho-serigraph. He wanted all of his fans to be able to collect this art regardless of the price. He signed the litho-serigraph, and Baron and Bill’s signature was silk-screened on the art.

Baron Wolman signed a limited number of the posters.
