Mickey Hart by Baron Wolman: This is a Silver Gelatin photographic print of Mickey Hart, drummer for the Grateful Dead, taken by Baron Wolman. Baron was the first chief photographer for the Bay Area music publication Rolling Stone Magazine. His photographs appeared on more than 15 covers, and that association with the magazine gave him unfettered access to the bands.
Baron lived in the Haight Ashbury down the street from Janis Joplin and the Grateful Dead. He had many sessions with the bands and band members in his studio in the Haight. This image of Mickey Hart was from a series of photo shoots he did with the Grateful Dead. It is an open-edition print and is signed by Baron. Wolman passed away in 2020, and at the time of his death, he was negotiating to sell his complete collection to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. As a result, there are very few Wolman photographs available to purchase. This is a necessary addition to any Deadhead’s collection.
