Rock and Roll was not in the mission statement, Rock and Roll Art was not part of the business plan, but very quickly it became the main focus for Walnut Street Gallery. Bill and Laura Eveleigh started Walnut Street Gallery in 1989 with a simple vision to bring internationally and nationally known contemporary artists to the Fort Collins, Colorado area. However, within a month of opening their gallery they were working with Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones and Baron Wolman, the first chief photographer for Rolling Stone Magazine. The gallery hosted their first show for Ronnie and Baron in the fall of 1989 and it was an overwhelming success.
Welcome to The Art of Rock and Roll! In 1989 we decided to represent imagery created for and inspired by rock and roll music, and a new genre was born.
When you peruse our gallery, you will find fine art and prints created by some amazing musicians, including John Entwistle, the founding member and bass player for the Who, Tico Torres, Bon Jovi’s drummer, and Carlos Santana, the founding member and namesake for Santana.
You’ll also find rock photos by the music industry’s most respected photographers, as well as some of the most promising new photographic talents in the music industry. This section spans four decades, beginning with the classic rock photos by Baron Wolman, the first chief photographer for Rolling Stone, and the images by San Francisco photographers Jay Blakesberg and Herb Greene.
